Fayose congratulates parents of released Dapchi Girls, accuses FG of conspiracy - Megafetch

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has congratulated parents of the abducted Dapchi Girls that were released today and sympathized with parents of five of the girls that reportedly died, describing the abduction of the girls as an indictment on the federal government and their release as “drama scripted by the government and its agents to swindle Nigerians.”

Fayose, while reacting to the release of the abducted school girls, said; “This appears like an arranged abduction and an arranged release, but we thank God that the innocent girls have returned home and we condole with parents of those that died.”
In a statement issued on Wednesday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was strange that the girls could be brought back to Dapchi by their abductors without the security agents knowing when they were returned and who returned them.

PDP Group alleges Dapchi Girls abduction used to raise fund for Buhari’s reelection, $20m ransom paid

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National New Media Group (PDP-NNMG) has described the abduction and release of 76 out of the 110 Dapchi School Girls as a means of raising fund for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection, demanding from the federal government how much was paid as ransom for the release of the girls.

The PDP-NNMG, which said “those who facilitated the abduction of the girls simply facilitated their return’ alleged that about $20 million, was paid for the release of the girls, saying that it was painful that those placed in authority in the country had become so heartless to the extent of framing abduction of innocent school girls to raise fund for the reelection of president Buhari as well as for their own personal use.

Additionally, officials continue to tear down couplet door decorations that use Christian language.
According to an anonymous source in Shangqiu, Henan, Christians there have been placed under house arrest without charge, with police officers watching their residence and requiring them to report where they are going every time they wish to leave the house.

The tragic death of 4-year-old Aniya Day-Garrett has left the world shocked, especially because of the torture she suffered at the hands of her mother and her boyfriend before she was killed.
Anya was allegedly beaten to death by her mother and her boyfriend on Sunday, March 11. Prior to that, she was starved and had her feet and legs burned. As a result of the torture, the child died in Euclid Hospital in Cleveland on Sunday from a stroke. Medical examiners said the stroke was caused by repeated blows to the head.

Ex-French President Sarkozy arrested over Gaddafi money

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was being held in police custody on Tuesday for questioning by magistrates looking into allegations of Libyan funding for his 2007 election campaign, an official in the French judiciary said.
A lawyer for Sarkozy could not be reached immediately for comment.
France opened a judicial inquiry in 2013 into allegations that Mr. Sarkozy’s successful 2007 election bid benefited from illicit funds from late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
A former minister and close ally of Mr. Sarkozy, Brice Hortefeux, was also being questioned by police on Tuesday morning in relation to the Libya investigation, another source close to the probe said.
Mr. Sarkozy, who served as president from 2007 to 2012, has always denied receiving any illicit campaign funding and has dismissed the Libyan allegations as “grotesque”.

Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly returned the pupils kidnapped from Government Girls Technical College , Dapchi , Yobe State , some weeks ago.

Fayose Tells Buhari: Responsible Govt Does Not Negotiate With Terrorist

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has criticized a proposed strategy by President Muhammadu Buhari to release the abducted 110 Dapchi girls from Boko Haram insurgents.

President Buhari after meeting with Ex-US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson said Nigeria prefers to have schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok and Dapchi back alive.

He said that was why it has chosen negotiation rather than military option.

Reacting, Fayose said terrorism cannot be defeated by negotiation.

According to him, responsible government does not negotiate with terrorists.

On his Twitter page, he wrote, “I have never heard of anywhere in the world where terrorism was defeated by negotiation.

Pope to visit inmate to perform feet-washing ritual on ‘Holy Thursday’ - Megafetch

Pope Francis would perform the pre -Easter washing of the feet ritual in Rome ’s Regina Coeli prison, the Vatican said on Tuesday .
The ritual recalls the gesture that Jesus is believed to have performed for the 12 apostles before the Last Supper , to show that the man they saw as their leader was capable of the most humble act.
On March 29 , Holy Thursday , Francis would visit the prison infirmary , wash the feet of 12 prisoners, and meet with some more inmates , a statement said .
The Regina Coeli prison is in the central Trastevere district and is mostly used for pretrial detention .

A heartless landlady in Zambia poured hot porridge on her tenant’s 1 year old baby during a clash over unpaid rent.
According to a report by Zambezi Reporters, this happened yesterday at around 6pm. The little baby’s mother owed the landlady K50 which equals NGN1800. It is her two months’ rent – February and March 2018.
The little child was left with severe burns in the face.

Diplomats expelled from the Russian embassy in London began leaving the building with their families and luggage on Tuesday, AFP journalists witnessed.
Britain has thrown out 23 Russian diplomats over the nerve agent attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia on March 4.
As people began streaming out of the embassy in a plush part of central London close to Kensington Palace, they hugged as they stood with their luggage outside the building.
Some were seen holding pet carriers as they made their way to the three cars, five people carriers and two small coaches waiting.
People standing outside the embassy waved them off as the vehicles bearing diplomatic plates pulled away.
Families were seen waving from the windows of the coach, as children inside the coach took pictures on their mobile phones.

Kano State Govt. Trains 3,500 Vigilance Members, Distributes Uniforms - Megafetch

The Kano State Government has trained 3,500 vigilance members on basic literacy and distributed uniforms worth over N200 million to various vigilance groups with a view to enhance their operations.

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, made this known on Monday during the post -International Literacy Day celebration in Kano.
Ganduje said that the training would reduce the level of illiteracy in the state and enhance their operations.
He said that his administration had given high premium to adult literacy in the state.
“Education is potentially the greatest instrument we have at our disposal to empower our people,” he said.
Ganduje added that the state government would set up a security neighborhood agency to check security issues in the state.
The governor also distributed 13,200 uniforms worth N200 million to members of the vigilance groups in the 44 local government areas.

Suspected herdsmen kill traditional ruler, wife and nine others in Kogi - Megafetch

Ten persons, including a traditional ruler , the Onu Agbenema , Musa Edibo ; and his wife have been killed, while several houses were burnt down by suspected herdsmen in separate attacks on Agbenema , Aj ’Ichekpa, Opada and Iyade villages , on Monday .

Some environmentalists on Monday called on the government to ban the use of polythene bags to safeguard the environment and health of the citizens.
They, however, advocated the use of biodegradable products as an environmentally-friendly solution to polythene bags.
According to the experts, polythene bags are non-biodegradable and it takes about 400 years to decompose.
Mr Temitope Ogunweide, an ecologist and co-founder of Clean Edge limited, said the use plastic bags had been accepted in the country, adding that the effect could be dangerous to the environment.
“We see a lot of activities carried out with the use of plastic bags; there is also need to consider the negative impact they have on the environment.
“When people go to shopping malls, they used plastic bags to pack the items because of convenience.

Loyal dog waits outside hospital four months after owner dies - Megafetch Nigeria

More than four months after its owner has died , a dog still refuses to leave the entrance of a hospital in Sao Paulo , Brazil .
The dog ’ s owner , a homeless man , was stabbed in a local park and rushed to Santa Casa de Novo Horizonte medical centre where he died from his injuries , according to local media reports .
Following the fatal incident, the dog chased the ambulance carrying his owner and has waited at the doors of the medical centre ever since .
A Hospital staff who have provided food and water for the loyal companion said the dog , whose name is unknown, has never tried to enter the building .
It sits quietly outside waiting for the master.

Benue: Police counter Presidency, say Inspector-General Idris not queried by Buhari

The police have strongly denied that President Muhammadu Buhari queried the Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris , following revelations that the police chief ignored a presidential directive to move to Benue State.
The police challenged “anyone” claiming Mr. Idris was queried by the president to produce an evidence.
A statement released by the presidency and later posted on Twitter using the @NGRPresident handle on Tuesday night said Mr. Buhari asked the police chief to explain why he flouted his order to relocate to Benue in the wakes of deadly attacks on villages that had left hundreds dead since January 1.

Israeli security guard stabbed to death in Jerusalem's old city

A Palestinian stabbed an Israeli security guard to death in Jerusalem's Old City on Sunday before being shot dead by a police officer, Israeli officials said.
The stabbing came with concerns over the potential for an upsurge in unrest in the coming weeks as the United States prepares to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
The security guard was taken to hospital in serious condition suffering a stab wound to his torso, medics said.
The hospital later announced he had died from his wounds. Israeli media reported that he was in his 30s, with some reports saying he was off-duty at the time.
